Synopsis: CensorNet licenses explained

The CensorNet product is licensed based on concurrent Internet users rather than per user or per seat, like many of our competitors.

What is a concurrent user?

From a technical point of view, concurrent users are determined by unique source IP addresses connecting to the CensorNet proxy. Generally, one computer will appear from one source IP address no matter how many programs are using the Internet on that computer. There are exceptions to this, for example if the computer has multiple network addresses but this is not very common.

I don't know how many concurrent users I have. How do I find out?

The most accurate way is to simply download CensorNet Professional and deploy it on your network. We offer a free trial period to allow you to fully evaluate the product. At the end of the trial period, the software will have recorded the peak concurrent user level and we can base the pricing on that.

If you don't have time to do a full trial or you just want to get an approximate number for pricing purposes - we suggest the following:

Business environments

  • Busy network - 1 license per computer
  • Moderate network - 50% of total computers

Education environments

  • 35%-40% of total number of users
